Current Opportunity: Archivist (Casual)
Glitter Records, where we specialize in the documentation, preservation, and classification of recorded music across all formats—from early 20th-century shellac discs to contemporary vinyl releases. Our mission is to ensure the history of recorded sound remains accessible, accurately cataloged, and preserved for future generations.
The role:
As an archivist, you’ll be responsible for grading and pricing a variety of physical music formats—including vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes, and more—using the Goldmine Grading Standard. You’ll identify pressing types, assign musical categories, and upload detailed listings to our online catalog in preparation for distribution. Full training is provided to develop your expertise in identifying and preserving rare and valuable sound recordings.
This is a focused, performance-driven position. Catalogers are expected to accurately process 200 items per shift, with a strong emphasis on consistency and data accuracy.
What we’re looking for:
1. General knowledge of music history and genres
2. Strong English proficiency and digital literacy
3. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently
4. Reliable focus and stamina for repetitive tasks
5. Prior experience with the Discogs marketplace, data entry, and handling physical music media
Position details:
- 5–25 hours per week, $31.19 per hour (casual rate)
- 1–5 shifts per week, 5 hours each (1:00 PM – 6:00 PM)

- Based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane

Archivist & Retail Assistant (Casual)

Our mission is to ensure the history of recorded sound remains accessible, accurately cataloged, and preserved for future generations.
This dual-role position combines hands-on archival work with in-store customer service, offering the chance to engage directly with music history while supporting daily retail operations.
This Role:
As a Casual Archivist & Retail Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:
Music Cataloging & Preservation
- Assessing and grading vinyl, CDs, cassettes, and other media using the Goldmine Grading Standard
- Conducting visual grading for lower-value items, and more detailed inspections for high-value formats
- Identifying pressing types and undocumented recordings for accurate classification
- Assigning items to correct storage zones within the warehouse
- Contributing to the preservation of rare and overlooked sound recordings
Retail & Shopfront Operations
- Providing warm, knowledgeable customer assistance in-store
- Managing inventory by labeling, shelving, and maintaining organized stock
- Handling transactions and assisting with daily opening and closing procedures
Full training is provided to build your expertise in both areas.
What We’re Looking For
- Familiarity with music history, genres, and media formats
- Strong attention to detail and visual discernment
- English fluency, strong communication skills and confidence using digital tools
- Focused, reliable work ethic—especially with repetitive tasks
- Experience with Discogs, data entry, or handling physical media is a big plus
