A notice advertising the Annual Masked Ball of the Society of Painters and Sculptors, held in the Redoutensaal in Vienna on St. Cecelia's Day, 1795 reads: " The music for the Minuets and German Dances for the Ball is an entirely new arrangement. For the larger room they were written by the the Royal Imperial Chapelmaster, Sussmayer; for the smaller room by the hand of Mr. Ludwig van Beethoven, out of the love for the artistic Fraternity."
