"A Thurber Carnival" opened at the ANTA Theatre in New York on February 26, 1960.  The present recording includes a sequence, "Memorial to a Dog," that was cut from the production before the opening because of time considerations, but is included here as representing Mr. Thurber's abiding affection for dogs of all walks of life.
