Notes:
Interview disc with Paul Kelly to support the release of his greatest hits compilation [i62336[/i. Tracks 5, 7, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22 and 25 were taken from the release; each track had an individual commentary either preceding or following it. Track 27 was taken from the 2CD bonus disc edition of the compilation; it too had a commentary track following it. Track 6 is a commentary track unrelated to any individual song. Track 30 is an identification tag which is listed in the liner notes as: "Hi this is Paul Kelly here, and this is a song from 'Songs From The South'". [bThe unnamed questions corresponding to each track number are listed in the liner notes as follows:[/b 1. When the idea came up for a Greatest Hits Record, what was your reaction? 2. One of the choices you made was leaving out the Paul Kelly and the Dots. 3. The album starts with [i308228[/i. That record was a bit of a watershed for you wasn't it? 9. You're [[isic[/i surname's Kelly. Do you have an Irish heritage? 10. Did that have any bearing on the Paul Kelly sitting here now. Did that help make him a musician somehow? 11. And your first public performance singing a folk song, wasn't it? 14. The next record [iSo Much Water[/i was the first Messengers album and it's a record that seems to tell us some of the things you felt and saw overseas. 21. Had you been interested in aboriginal [[isic[/i culture and From Little Things gave you a chance to say that. Had you been looking for a story to put into your music? 24. You don't want your records to be personal testaments, but you think [i536637[/i was a very personal album? 29. The title of the Greatest Hits album is [iSongs From The South[/i. It's ironic because if you'd given that title to [iPost[/i it would have meant 'Songs From Melbourne'. Today it means 'Songs From Australia'.
